He was a veteran of the United States Air Force (SAC), flying out of Goose Bay, Alaska.
Family will be receiving friends on Saturday, September 28, 2019, from 10 until 11 a.m., at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Service will follow at 11 a.m., in the Kilgore-Green Chapel, with burial at Walker Memory Gardens.
He was very gifted in any aspect of electronics, and spent much of his professional career helping launch and then working as an engineer for Birmingham’s Channel 42. He was much beloved by his former colleagues who often noted his great sense of humor. He was a quiet “do-er” and whatever he undertook was without fanfare but always with perfection.
He was the youngest of four children born to Joseph Luther Braswell and Mertie Belle Earnest Braswell, both of whom predeceased him. He was their only child born in a hospital. He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Townley Braswell, a native of Walker County, to whom he was deeply devoted.
His sister, Faye Braswell Walker and her husband Thomas G. Walker, Sr., predeceased him, as did his sisters-in-law Sylvia S. “Tish” Braswell and Bettie Sorrels Braswell. He is survived by his two brothers, James Bryce Braswell of Weston, FL, and Luther Joseph Braswell of Hoover. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their families.
His family is deeply thankful and gives praise to his and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for “Earnie’s” life, example, and for the abundance of love shown in so many ways over his lifetime.
