George W Taylor

known by his friends as Wally, a beloved family man, a decorated veteran, and a dedicated

professional, who left us peacefully in Jasper, AL, on April 1, 2024, at the age of 79. Born in

Double Springs, AL, on November 14, 1944, to Louie Edward Taylor and Susie Avalee Taylor,

Wally's life was a testament to service and commitment to his loved ones and community. We

are incredibly joyful that he has moved to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior,

Jesus Christ.

Wally honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1973, retiring with the rank

of Captain. His bravery and excellence in service were recognized with several awards,

including the Air Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross, a prestigious military decoration

awarded for extraordinary heroism or achievement while participating in aerial flight. These

honors reflect Wally's unwavering dedication and the high esteem in which he was held by his

fellow service members.

After his military service, Wally pursued a variety of occupations, finding the greatest joy and

fulfillment in working within multiple family businesses. His versatility, work ethic, and the ability

to connect with people greatly contributed to the success of these ventures and left a lasting

impact on all who worked alongside him.

In his later years, Wally devoted much of his time to his local church, Gideons International, and

especially to reaching out to others to spread the love of Christ. His faith was a cornerstone of

his life, inspiring those around him through his actions and his unwavering belief in the power of

love and compassion.

Wally will be dearly missed by his family, including his son, Walt Taylor (Sandra), and his

grandchildren, Walton Taylor (Jeralisse, great-grandson Nathan), Sara Kate Taylor, and Will

Taylor. He is also survived by his daughter Robin Jarvi (Steve, grandchildren Zeal and Olive),

and his daughter Brooke Taylor (grandchild Gracie Labue, great-grandchildren Ella Grace

Labue and Michael Labue). Wally is also survived by his beloved sisters, Gay Kiker, Sue Tasker,

and Jo (Wendell) Hood. Wally was preceded in death by his son, Drew Taylor, whose memory

remains a cherished part of the family's legacy. Wally was also preceded in death by his

parents, his beloved brother Sam Taylor, brothers-in-law John Kiker and John Tasker, and

nephew, Mark Kiker.

On Saturday April 13th, there will be a gathering of friends and family at Corinth Church in

Double Springs, Alabama, at 1 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 2 p.m. Wally's remains

will be laid to rest at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL, on April 15, 2024, with

Military Honors provided by the United States Air Force.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Gideons International or his home church,

Corinth Church, as a way to honor Wally's memory and support causes he held dear.
