She was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on Sept. 15, 1935, to the late William Bryan Williams and Sybil Click Williams Hitchfiel. Joyce was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be so greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She married Clifford Earnest Windham on Jan. 14, 1956, and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage before his passing in 2017. He was truly the love of her life, and they are now together forever with their Lord and Savior in their Heavenly home along with their daughter Becky Ann. Joyce grew up in Mulga and Hillview, graduating from Minor High School in 1953. Joyce was a member of Westwood Baptist Church for many years and then joined Travis Peak Church of Christ with Cliff in Texas. Joyce moved to Texas in 1982, living in McAllen, Austin, Dallas/Ft. Worth, and Austin again before returning home to Alabama in 2018.
She enjoyed shopping, cooking, gardening, crafting, traveling, and spoiling her grandsons. She was grateful for the many wonderful places she had traveled throughout her life and the experiences these ventures afforded her. Oh, the stories she could tell from her travels, and her antics with her grandsons.
Joyce is survived by daughter, Teri Windham Knight (Paul) of Jasper, Alabama; daughter, Vicky Jo Windham of Jasper; son, Bryan Windham (Laura) of Jasper; and son, Mark Windham of Jasper. Joyce was blessed with five grandchildren: Eric Knight (Sherri); preceding her in death in 2011, Matthew Knight (Ryan); Cameron Knight (Shawna); Andrew Knight; and Kayla Park. She leaves behind four precious great-grandchildren, Isabelle Knight, Aiden Knight, Evan Knight and Bennet Knight; and four great-grandchildren. She is survived by her brother, Joe E. Williams of Pelham, Alabama, and many special nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her brothers, Kenneth Williams and Robert A. Williams. She enjoyed the friendship of so many and remarked often of how blessed she was.
Joyce's family would like to express our profound gratitude to the Southeast Hospice team. You are truly God's angels on Earth. May each of you be blessed immeasurably. We also want to thank Dr. Emily Williams. Without you, we would have been lost. You have been our anchor since we moved to Jasper, and we pray God blesses you abundantly.
Family will be receiving friends on Thursday, April 20, 2023, from noon until 1 p.m., at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the Kilgore-Green Chapel, with burial at Mackey Boshell Cemetery. Chris Pschier will officiate.
