Mary Fay Lollar Banks, 89, passed away on May 5, 2025, in Jasper, Alabama

Visitation will be Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 6 pm until 7 pm, at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 pm, in the Kilgore-Green Chapel. Burial will be at Walker Memory Gardens. George Barrera will officiate.

Mary was born to Luther and Hazel Guthrie Lollar on September 6, 1935, in Oakman, Alabama. She graduated from Oakman High School in 1953 before she went on to graduate from Alverson Draughon Business College in Birmingham, Alabama. On September 4th of 1954 she married her high school sweetheart, Hugh Watson Banks. They built a home and raised two children, Denise and Danny. She worked for First National Bank in Jasper, Alabama for 32 years and retired as the Assistant Vice President of the Commercial Loan Operation. She was passionate about her family, loved reading and growing flowers. She blessed everyone with her wisdom and guidance throughout her life. We know she is rejoicing in heaven with her loved ones and many friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Watson Banks and her parents, Luther and Hazel Lollar.

She is survived by her two children, Denise Banks Sparks (James) and Danny Banks (Jennifer); grandchildren, Adam Sparks (Ashley), Bethany Armstrong, Christopher Banks (Jessica) and Austin Banks; great grandchildren, Sterling Sparks, Stella Sparks, Logan Armstrong, Parker Armstrong and Rowan Banks; brother Dwight Lollar (Judy), brother-in-law Rutledge Banks and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.

A grateful and heartfelt recognition of the loving caregivers and friends at Harbor Chase Assisted Living, Gentiva Hospice, Dr. Woodrow Herring and so many others who all helped Mary transition peacefully to her heavenly home.
