

Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Williamson Richards, age 95, of Curry, will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Mt. Joy Baptist Church at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Robert Sparkman officiating. A visitation at 2 p.m. will precede the service. Kilgore-Green Funeral Home of Jasper will direct.
Mrs. Richards was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She died peacefully on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Ascension St. Vincent’s Birmingham, surrounded by family.
Mrs. Richards was married to the love of her life, AJ Richards, for over 65 years. She was a longtime member for many years at Mt. Joy Baptist Church in Curry. She and her late husband and family owned and operated Richards’ Clearwater Marina on Smith lake for 44 years. She loved spending time with her family, serving at her church, working in her garden, cooking, canning, and watching Atlanta Braves Baseball.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Virgil Victor Williamson and Leander Chain Williamson; husband, Alfred Jennings “A.J.” Richards; sister, Agnes Williamson; brothers: Douglas Williamson, Durie Williamson, and Alvin Ray Williamson; grandchildren: Angel baby Harbin and Angel baby girl Richards.
Survivors include sister, Elsie (Ralph, deceased) Shelton of Hartselle; Sister-in-Law, Gale Williamson; brothers: Wade (Pat) Williamson of Saraland, and Herbert (Betty, deceased) Williamson of Dora. She is also survived by her five daughters: Gwen (Donald) Rice of Sumiton, Janice (Larry) Moore of Berry, Kathy Harbin of Curry, Freda (Dennis) Ivey of Jasper, and Fawn (Carlton) Allred of Buhl; one son, Alfred (Julie) Richards of Curry; 14 grandchildren, Audrea (Tracy) Robbins, Andy Rice, Aonya (Rob) Gray, Chrisynda (Sam) Price, Sandahlyn (Alan) Wiggins, Amy (Pat) Prestridge, Brad (Keri) Harbin, Nancy (Chris) Megginson, Nathan (Jessica) Ivey, Josh (Laurie) Allred, Jesse (Brittany) Allred, Heather (Casey) Woods, Adrianne Richards, and Heath (Madison) Richards; 36 (soon to be 37) great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Active pallbearers are her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are her grandsons-in-law.
