Newell E. LaFayette, 91, of Jacksonville, Alabama, passed away Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at his residence. Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015, from 1 until 2 p.m., at Jacksonville First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Alabama. Funeral services will be Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015, at 2 p.m., at Jacksonville First Baptist Church. Derek Staples will officiate. Burial will be at Walker Memory Gardens in Jasper. LaFayette was preceded in death by his parents, James William and Gracie P. LaFayette; brother, Terry LaFayette; and sister, Jeanette Bradley. He is survived by his wife, LaNelle LaFayette; sons, Eric LaFayette (Melissa) of Jacksonville, Alabama and Mark LaFayette (Dorene) of Sylacauga; grandchildren, Lindsay, Carmen (Ben), Joshua (Lou), Hudson, Sarah, Derik, Evan, and Brittney (Scott); six great-grandchildren; and sister, Ettawease L. Stephenson of Jasper. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Jacksonville First Baptist Church, 230 7th St. NE, Jacksonville, AL 36265.
