Graveside service will be held at Walker Memory Gardens Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 11 a.m., with Kilgore-Green Funeral Home directing.
Patsy was born March 14, 1938, in Jasper. She loved Jasper and the Farmstead community, where she lived most of her life.
On December 8, 1957, she married Tony West of Thach. They were blessed with three children Kim West, Randy West and Scott West. After the tragic loss of her husband Tony in 1974, she and the kids moved back to Jasper to their Farmstead home. Patsy endured another tragedy in December 1976 when Scott West was killed by a drunk driver.
On May 23, 1980, she got another chance with love by marrying James H. Sherer of Jasper. At her death, they had been married for 43 years. In their younger years they enjoyed RV traveling north in the summer months and south in the cold months. Patsy loved being outdoors, planting vegetables, tending gardens and in her later years, daily picking up every stick in the yard she could find.
Throughout her life, she maintained her faith in God, which sustained and comforted her all the way to heaven. She and James were faithful members at Mt. Vernon Church in Curry for many years. She shared her faith through touching cards and letters.
Her words of encouragement blessed many people. Her favorite verse was Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. She believed it she lived it. It was part of her legacy.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Tony West; and son, Scott West.
She is survived by her husband, James Sherer; children, Kim West, Randy West (Angie), Jimmy Sherer and Melissa Sherer; grandchildren, Joseph Sherer, Patrick Sherer, Parker Sherer, Michael Mathews, Elizabeth Money, Madeline West and Benjamin West; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
