
Robert (Bob) Madison Jr., 83, of Jasper, passed away Friday, July 21, 2017, at his residence. The Lord came and took his hand and carried him to his heavenly home, where he will be well and happy forever. Mr. Bob was the Highway Holyman. He loved sitting on the side of Highway 195 and holding his sign, saying, “Honk If You Love Jesus” and “God is the only way.” He was handicapped but thought there is always something you can do for the Lord. He lived that way every day. He will be greatly missed by his family, many motorists and neighbors. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2017, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Hunter’s Chapel Holy Church of Christ sanctuary. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Hunter’s Chapel Holy Church of Christ. The Rev. Carl Dorrough and the Rev. Don Graham will officiate. He was preceeded in death by his mother, Flora Williams Madison Woods; his father, Robert Theodore Madison; and a precious baby sister. His is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Anita Harper Madison; his son, Donnie Madison and his wife, Sheryl, of Jasper; his stepdaughter, who called him Dad, Teressa Portzer Fortner and her husband, Michael, of Jasper; two sisters, Emma Keeton and Colene Williams, both of Nauvoo; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many precious nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will include James Williams, Randall Williams, Chris Sims, John Portzer, Mike Kilgore and Ron Painter. Honorary pallbearers will include Jerry Don Atkins, Andy Filyaw, Terry Stripling, Charles Elliott, Barry Holdbrooks, Keith Weeks and Wayne Moore.
