Yalanda Joan Mayes Taylor

Family will receive friends on Friday, October 29, 2021, from 10 until 11 a.m., at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Kilgore-Green Chapel with burial at Walker Memory Gardens. The Rev. Ronnie Thompson will officiate.

Yalanda was a beloved mother and Meemee to a family of two children, six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She opened her home to many nieces, nephews and others whenever the need arose. She served the Lord Jesus Christ for over 50 years all the while raising a family and being an ever present source of comfort, strength and encouragement to all who knew her. She was a licensed minister in the United Christian Church of Cleveland, TN, as well as a Certified Nursing Assistant for many years. She always sought to please the Lord in word and deed and gave all she had for others in her life. She will be forever missed and remembered tenderly, until the day comes where we will be together again. The family would like to thank the staff at Walker Rehabilitation and Comfort Care Hospice for the care given to her in the last weeks of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Mayes and Sibyl Mayes; siblings, Leonard Frank Mayes, Naomi Johnson, Patricia Langston, Robert Mayes and Melvin Mayes.

She is survived by her children, Sibyl Ann Hilley Sawtelle (Mike) and Kevin J. Hilley (Tracy); grandchildren, Stephen Michael Sawtelle (Brandy), Stacia Michelle Wager, Shannan Marcus Sawtelle (Daniela), Shawn Kevin Hilley, Jacob Nathaniel Hilley and Ashley Rebekah Hilley; great grandchildren, Levi Micah Sawtelle, Eliana Grace Sawtelle, Avariella Rose Wager and Harlan Grey Wager; brother, Irvin Mayes; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
