He was born October 6, 1919 in Duncannon (Perry County), PA; he was the son of Charles W. and Mary E. Sieg.
Mr. Sieg married Jeanne Francis Cotter of Utica, NY on January 10, 1948. Mrs. Sieg passed away in September 1992.
He was a graduate of Duncannon High School, Dickinson College, and held a Masters Degree from George Washington University, Washington, DC.
Mr. Sieg was employed as a personnel trainee by the Middletown, PA Air Force Base in October 1941. He was reassigned, as Chief of Civilian Recruitment, as a member of the cadre of civilian employees to activate what is now Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, NY. He entered military service in 1943 and was assigned to the headquarters of the 66th Fighter Wing in England. In 1945, he transferred to the Infantry and served with the 76th and 1st Infantry divisions until his discharge in 1946. He was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in France in 1945. While serving with the 1st Division he performed guard duty at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials from October 1945 to April 1946.
After his military service, he returned to civilian employment with the Air Force, Rome. NY. He was transferred to Headquarters, USAF, Washington DC in April 1951 and was assigned to the Directorate of Civilian Personnel. He transferred to the US Postal Service in 1967 as Director of Recruitment and Placement. He retired in 1972.
Mr. Sieg was a Professor of Management and a Department Chairman at Southeastern University, Washington, DC. For many years, he was an associate of Leadership Resources, Inc., a management firm located in Fairfax, VA.
Mr. Sieg was a member of the American Legion Post# 954, Jefferson, a life member of the National Rifle Association, Greene County Habitat for Humanity, Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and the Wild Cat Hunting Club in Bayse, VA.
He is survived by daughter, JoAnn (Joey) Sieg-Tom, son-in-law Jerry Tom, granddaughter Greta Tom, and grandson Caleb Tom, all of Jefferson.
Deceased are two brothers, Charles J. Sieg and Harry H. Sieg; and two sisters, Madge I. Campbell and Mary E. Fry.
Family and friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Behm Funeral Homes, Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2013 with the Rev. John R. Dorean officiating. Interment will follow in Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson. Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by the United States Army and the American Legion Post # 954, Jefferson. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Salvation Army, Greene County Chapter, 131 W.
