

He was born October 25, 1932 in Mather, a son of the late William and Helen Komer Ferencak Sr.
Mr. Ferencak was a 1951 graduate of Jefferson High School.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Ferencak was a coal miner, retiring from Emerald Coal Company in 1991 and was also a life insurance agent for American General Life Insurance Company for 20 years.
He was a lifetime member of the St. Marcellus RC Church in Jefferson, the Knights of Columbus, Waynesburg, the United Mine Workers of America, Local #2258, the American Legion Post #954, Jefferson for over 50 years, and the Jefferson Hotel Football Club. He served on the Jefferson-Morgan School Board for 20 years and on the Lower Ten Mile Sewage Board for several years. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan.
A very devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Chuck and his wife, Caroline Harshman, who survives, just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary; they were married on April 23, 1955.
Also surviving are three children, Greg Ferencak and his wife Chris of Jefferson, John Ferencak and his wife Toni of Waynesburg, and Marsha Pozum and her husband Terry of Clarksville; six grandchildren, Jackelyn Karlowicz and her husband Franco of Orlando, FL, Kristi Davis of Carmichaels, Matthew Ferencak and his fiancée Lyndsay Bogdan of Pittsburgh, Lisa Ferencak of Jefferson, John J. Ferencak and his fiancée Krysta DeHoet of Waynesburg, and Nicole Roberts and her husband Jared of Washington; 2 great grandchildren, Ava Davis and Tyler Davis; a step great-grandchild, Deakyn DeHoet; two brothers, Steve (Joyce) Ferencak of FL and James (Barb) Ferencak of Ohio; two sisters, Darlene Knapik and her husband John Jr. of Clarksville, and Delores (Carl) Rygle of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are 4 brothers, John Edward “Sonny” Ferencak, William Ferencak Jr., George Ferencak, and Robert “Butch” Ferencak; 4 sisters, Margaret Kornick, Dorothy Greco, Ann Kelly and Madelyn Ferencak; 2 nephews, John Knapik III and Dana Kornick; and a niece, Gina Rygle.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where a Blessing Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 30, 2015, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Marcellus R.C. Church, Jefferson with Fr. J. Francis Frazer as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg.
