He was born September 23, 1931 in Jefferson, PA, a son of the late James O. and Gertrude Pollock Filbey.
Dud served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He worked most of his life as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic in the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 825. Dud was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Conservative Caucus. He enjoyed hunting, land preservation, learning, and supporting the constitution.
Dud is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ladner Filbey; sister Jessie Lee Smolsky; four children, Stephen M. Filbey and wife Ellen of Alloway, NJ, Karen Nocella of Pottstown, PA, Lisa Filbey and husband Thomas Bryant of Franklinville, NJ, and James Filbey Jr.; four grandchildren, Gregory Stephen Filbey of Philadelphia, PA, Stephanie Jean Filbey of Morgantown, WV, Lauren Harrington and husband Matthew of Philadelphia, PA, and Jeffrey Nocella and wife Kelly of Philadelphia, PA; two great grandchildren, Ray Richard Harrington and Lee Duvall Harrington.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Joann Mills, and his son-in-law, Richard Nocella.
