James W. Fischer

He was born on November 6, 1937 in Jefferson, a son of the late Harry and Margaret “Peg” Fischer.

Jim had worked as a coal miner and welder in Clyde Mine in Fredericktown and was a long time member of the National Rifle Association.

On January 21, 1956 he married Donna Gardner, who died August 27, 1981.

Surviving are two children, Marsha (Dale) Morton of Clarksville, and Tracy Fischer of Jefferson; six grandchildren, Jaime Morton, Dale David Morton, Dawn Morton, Santha Fischer, Talia Fischer and Lysandra Fischer; 7 great grandchildren, Corby Cunningham, Blaine Cunningham, Keegan Morton, Aryanna Reynolds, Malachi Kelley, Micah Kelley, and Kaitlyn Richards.

Deceased in addition to his wife is a son, James Lee Fischer.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2017, with a memorial service being held at 4:00 pm in the Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Rd., Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P.
