

He was born January 17, 1924 in Jefferson, a son of the late Harry Randolph and Nellie Blanche Huffman McNeely.
Mr. McNeely attend Jefferson High School and left before graduation to join the United States Marine Corps during WW II. On June 1, 2017 he was proud to receive his high school diploma from the Jefferson-Morgan School District.
Cpl. Scott H. McNeely, served in the U.S. Marine Corps, 1st Marine Division, 11th Regiment, G-Battery of the 3rd Battalion. He served 27 months in the south Pacific Theater and four major engagements, Finchhaven, New Guinea; Cape Gloucester, New Britain; Peleliu and Okinawa. Japanese snipers hit Scott in the left shoulder, and 10 days later he was shot in the left thigh. Due to unavoidable war conditions, he did not receive his 2 Purple Hearts with a gold star, South Pacific Medal with 4 Bronze Battle Stars; the WW II Medal and the Good Conduct Medal, until October 10, 1986 at Soldiers and Sailors Hall in Pittsburgh, PA.
After returning home, he worked as a Plastering contractor from 1947 to 1970. In 1970 he started working at Penn DOT and retired in 1989.
He was a member of the Filer-Sadlek American Legion Post #954, Jefferson and the Retired Public Employees of Pennsylvania and the American Federation of State, County, Municipal Employees, Chapter 13, Sub-chapter 8404.
On March 20, 1954 in the Jefferson Baptist Church, he married Dorothy Jean Ankrom, who survives.
Also surviving are four siblings, Betty Manrow of Waynesburg, Frank McNeely of Waynesburg, William McNeely of Waynesburg, and Douglas McNeely of Jefferson; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are 6 siblings, Allen “Dynamite” McNeely, George McNeely, Helen Dugan, Hallie McNeely, Arleigh McNeely, and Lois McNeely.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, on Friday in the Behm Funeral Homes, Inc., 1477 Jefferson Rd., Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 10:00 am, with the Rev. John R. Dorean officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg. Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Marine Corps and the American Legion Post #954, Jefferson.
