Barbara was a bright light who will be missed.

How blessed I was to have Barbara Ann Mary as my big sister.  Growing up in our house the rule was “clean plate club”, I was usually the-last one at the kitchen table when both Barbara and Marjorie would entertain me with songs or dances.  Well, until my Dad would put an end to that. This was the start of Barbara singing “career” 
Give her a chance to sing songs from West Side Story and off she would go.    Many years later I had the pleasure of living with Barbara and her family for a few months in her tiny house in Connecticut. I experienced Barbara’s unique hypnotism with neighbors in the backyard.  One day Barbara noticed one the guppies was floating on top of the tank. Well, she sprung into action and performed a Caesarean section on the mama fish and saved a multitude of offspring.    
I will miss those moments forever as I will miss you my dear sister Barbara Ann Mary…

I met Barb through Barb and Tom Block in the ‘80’s.  She brought such joy to everyone she met. I don’t think I have ever heard so many funny stories!!  On the other hand, she was kind, compassionate and a caring friend.  Her family was her life.  She will be missed.

So sad for all of you to lose such a fun and loving  person.   Barbara made me laugh more than anyone I ever knew.  I think of going to watch football and 8 teddy bears were dressed in their Dolphin outfits and sat at the table with us for dinner.  They each had names and she kept asking if they wanted more food, another drink, etc.  We went out with a realtor and Barb told her we were sisters and were both named Barbara because our mother really liked the name.  Tom and I went out with she and Martyn often and just were always laughing.  Many good memories!  Hope you are all well! I know you will miss her but memories will keep you laughing!

Barbara was always full of fun and ready to play a prank. She, along with Martyn,  would show up at a gathering wearing fully decorated brown paper bags over their heads. My sister Eileen and I  followed her lead and flew down from New York to Fort Lauderdale and arrived at  my mother’s front door wearing fully decorated paper bags over our heads. My mother had no idea we were coming! Barbara was our role model on how to “play”.

As the eldest of the McQuade girls, Aunt Barbara was the wittiest....and that is saying something!  I spent many summers down in Florida with Grandma and Aunt Barbara and she entertained me as a tween and teen with lots of memorable fun that wanted me coming back for more. (I will never forget the "funeral of Resus Annie" and other wild parties at the Condo!) 
She was the first to meet Rhonda just before we were married and treated her to the funniest welcome anyone could ever receive.  She had prepared a great dinner, but before it started, she burnt cork under Rhonda's plate and did this fake meditation to have us rub our faces with the warmth of the plate.  When we turned the lights on, Rhonda's face was black with burnt cork.  Apparently, she welcomed my dad to the family the same way! This still ranks as one of the best dinner parties I've ever been to.  And Rhonda loved it too.  It gave her a very clear picture of what she was marrying into!  Thank God she stayed!
From family weekends at Reeve's beach, gathering in CT , LI, or FL, we had many outstandingly fun gatherings that were led by the humor and compassion of Barbara McQuade and her sisters.  We will miss her but will continue her legacy and share these memories forever.  This is one more card we get to use in "Mass Card concentration" (A great story for another time...)
