It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Darrel Kent Billingsley, known to all who loved him as Kent. He was born on December 1, 1955, in Yell County, Arkansas and passed away on March 1, 2026, in Jensen Beach Florida.
Kent spent most of his life in Kansas City, Kansas and later in Overland Park, Kansas. On February 18, 1977, he married the love of his life, Terri Leann Krumm. Together they built a life full of laughter, partnership, and devotion. They welcomed one daughter, Samantha, who was the pride of his heart. Kent was the comic relief to Terri’s straight man, and they were an unforgettable team until her unexpected passing in 2017. She was the brains of the operation, and he never quite recovered from losing her.
Kent worked faithfully for Harlan Corporation for 41 years, a reflection of his loyalty and steady work ethic. He was the kind of man you could count on for anything. On the outside, he looked like a rough biker guy. On the inside, he was soft and tender—especially when it came to his daughter. Any conversation about Samantha would inevitably leave him misty-eyed with pride.
In 2019, he moved to Florida to be closer to Samantha and her family. While he was a wonderful father, the only thing he did better was being a grandpa. He delighted in and doted on his four grandchildren—Brock, Chance, Jameson, and Eva. He became the ultimate nanny and chauffeur, faithfully driving, supporting, and showing up for every moment he could. His later years were filled with purchasing tons of coastal-inspired wall décor, grandkid adventures, and endless love.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Darrel and Alva Nee Billingsley; his brother, Keith Billingsley; and his beloved wife, Terri.
He is survived by his daughter, Samantha; her husband, Charles; their children, Brock, Chance, Jameson, and Eva; his sister Dara Elmer and sister in law Jennifer Billingsley.
Information regarding memorial gatherings in both Kansas and Florida will be posted to Facebook.
Kent loved cars, motorcycles, and rock ’n’ roll. He was always ready with a joke—or a playful “knuckle sandwich.” He lived his life as a loyal husband, a playful girl dad, and a proud grandfather. He was so very, very loved.
See you later, alligator.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Aycock Funeral Home, 950 NE Jensen Beach Blvd, Jensen Beach, FL 34957, US, on March 12, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
