

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents Lee and Marie Purkey, Sr and her three wonderful husbands: Donald C. Ferber, Nicholas D. Wing, MD., and Harold R. Hansen.
Survivors are Gloria and Don’s four children, Linda (David) Quigley of Indianapolis, IN; Laura Carey of Akron, OH; Troy (Brooke) Ferber of Rocky River, OH; and Todd Ferber of Stuart, FL; her 9 grandchildren, Erica (Drew) Tomasik; Scott Quigley; Taylor, Brittany, and Vinny Carey; Paige, Lauren, Charlie, and Samantha Ferber. Gloria is also survived by her three beloved siblings, Lee (Connie) Purkey, Jr. of Memphis, TN; Glenda (Paul) Warren of St. Louis, MO; and David (Jennifer) Purkey of San Diego, CA; Hal’s four children, Harold Hansen Jr. of Tewksbury, MA; Thomas (Muriel) Hansen of Houston, TX; Jon (Patricia) Hansen of Kennebunk, ME; and Elizabeth (Robert) Tracy of Woodbury, MN; Nick’s children, Barbara (Randy) Schneider of Denver, CO; Patrick (Stacey) Wing of Denver, CO; Jeff (deceased) (René ) of CO; and Gregory (Kathy) Wing of Denver, CO; and many nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and her devoted friends from Akron and from Stuart.
Gloria worked at IBM briefly where she met her first husband, Don Ferber. They were married from 1957 until his death in 1971. They happily raised their four children as they moved from St. Louis, MO to Fort Smith, AR, Little Rock, AR, and to Omaha, NE before moving to Akron, OH in 1968. Gloria married Nick Wing in 1976 and they were married and lived in Akron for 22 years until he passed away in 1998. Gloria married Hal Hansen at the turn of the century and they enjoyed their life together in Stuart until Hal passed away in 2010.
Over the years, Gloria volunteered for numerous organizations; The Crittendon Home of Akron, Akron General Hospital’s Women’s Board, and Westminster Presbyterian Church of Akron. Gloria was an active member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Stuart serving on The Alter Guild, Flower Guild and as a Lay Reader. Gloria was also a member of The Call to Discipleship. Gloria served as a Past President of the Hibiscus Children's Center Guild of Stuart.
Gloria was a Master Bridge Player and loved gardening, travel, reading, crossword puzzles, needlework, and spending time with her family and many dear friends. She will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church at 10:00am on Saturday, June 2nd. A reception will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution would be welcomed by St. Mary's Episcopal Church at 623 E. Ocean Blvd. Stuart, FL 34994.
