Robert J. Dunning

Dr. Dunning was born in Amsterdam, NY. He was a 1944 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School, attended Union College in Schenectady, Class of 1948, and graduated from University of Buffalo School of Dentistry in 1952.

He served in the United States Navy in WW II, Pharmacists Mate 3rd Class. He served as a member of the American Dental Association, and of the 4th District Dental Society of New York. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of Amsterdam Memorial Hospital, and the Amsterdam Savings Bank. He was a member of St. Ann’s Church and several fraternal organizations.

He practiced dentistry in Amsterdam for 58 years.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Miriam: three daughters, Marcy Elizabeth Dunning of Astoria, OR, Susan Dunning Matthews of Galena, MD and Sarah Dunning Brittain of St. Augustine, FL; brother, Franklin (Skip) Dunning; sister Florence Dunning Savage; five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in the Spring of 2011 in Amsterdam, NY.
