William Richard Poling

William “Billy” Poling, 64, of Jensen Beach passed away on November 28, 2024 at home surrounded by family. Billy was born on April 16, 1960 to Thomas & Grace Poling of Keyport, NJ where he was a lifelong resident until moving to Florida 5 years ago. He led a very interesting and colorful life. He was incredibly proud to have served in the US Army and he became one of the youngest Sergeants during his time enlisted. Billy worked for JCP&L for over 20 years. He was a volunteer firefighter, like his father before him, for Lincoln Hose Fire Dept. in Keyport, NJ. Billy wasn't a big guy, but he was a force of nature with a heart of gold (unless you were on his bad side). He was a voice and protector for those he loved and people unable to stand up for themselves. Billy was an active member of the VFW and American Legion. Odds were if you were looking for him, you would find him in one or the other, playing pool and having a good time with a cold Bud and listening to some classic rock with friends. He was incredibly passionate about classic cars and loved collecting and restoring them, especially his 1929 Ford Model A. He went to, and participated in, The Race of Gentleman in Wildwood, NJ every year he was able to attend. Billy was the life of the party. He was caring, generous, and so much fun to be around. He had entirely too much life left in him to have lost him so soon. Billy is predeceased by his father, Thomas Poling. He is survived by his mother, Isabelle “Grace” Poling; his brothers, Michael Poling and wife, Jean of Lake Worth, FL; Raymond Poling and wife, Shawna of Rochester, NY; his daughters, Nicole Poling & Jessica Betterley and her husband, Justin, as well as his two beloved grandchildren, Nino and Raegan Betterley of Lacey, NJ. Billy also leaves behind an abundance of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at

Aycock Funeral Home in Stuart, FL from 10am-12pm with veterans honors to follow at the South Florida National Cemetery at 2pm.
