

Betty Lou Wheat, age 84, formerly of McClenney, Fernandina Beach, and Jacksonville, Florida and currently of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at the Courtyard Senior Living. She was born in Leeds, Alabama, a daughter of the late Calvin McCreless and Ora Spurell McCreless. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Ralph H. Wheat; and three sisters, Sue Nelson, Lola Morgan, and Daisy Rich.
Betty was of the Methodist faith and worked as a school bookkeeper. She loved volunteering at food pantries and at churches.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna Metcalf; three sons, Clifford Wheat and wife Deb, Bryan Wheat and wife Tamsen, and Kenneth Wheat; nine grandchildren, Nathan Metcalf, Anthony Metcalf, Elizabeth Metcalf, Zachary Wheat, Emily Wheat, Madison Wheat, Ryun Wheat, Sydney Wheat, and Elle Wheat; one great granddaughter, Gentry; one sister, Barbara Wiggins; one sister-in-law, Jeanne Lewis; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
