Doris was the true definition of a matriarch. She poured her heart into raising her children and played an instrumental role in the lives of her grandchildren. Her home was always filled with laughter, love, and the joy of family. Whether she was crocheting, making ceramics, or creating something new with her hands, Doris always found a way to bring beauty into the world through her crafting.
She was also an extraordinary cook, known for preparing meals that were delicious and entertaining depending on how they were delivered to the table. Doris loved fashion, sewing her own dresses and stepping out in her stiletto heels whenever she went to town. She embodied a classiness that was remarkable and a loving soul that is timeless.
Professionally, Doris worked for and developed a close relationship with the Lauter’s while working for the cosmetic company, Estee Lauder. She was the executive secretary there, and Doris maintained a fondness for the brand and their products.
In addition to creating with her hands, she also created memories with her family and extended church families. She loved swimming with her grandchildren and taking trips to the beach. Doris attended church at First United Methodist and First Baptist (Katy, TX) and Bedford Presbyterian (Bedford, VA). She was a member of the choir and cherished a very close relationship with God.
Doris is survived by her son, William Koch and his wife, Sharon of Jonesborough, TN; her grandchildren, Kevin Henesey and his wife Leah of Bent Mountain, VA, Joel Koch and his wife Whitney of Katy, TX, Scott Johnson and his wife Jess of Roanoke, VA, Lauren Koch of Jonesborough, TN, Catherine Koch of Jonesborough, TN, and Alexis Koch of Friendswood, TX; and her great-grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan, Mason, Henry, Camden, Jupiter, and Presley.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, of 40 years, William Koch; her parents, George and Prudence Miller; her brothers, Jack and Al Miller; and two of her children, Patricia Meyers and Douglas Koch.
A celebration of her life will take place at a date to be determined in Texas.
The family would like to extend their utmost appreciation to the staff and care team of Amedisys Home Health and Amedisys Hospice Group.
Arrangements especially for Doris Catherine Koch and her family have been made through Monte Vista Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 1900 E. Oakland Avenue, Johnson City, TN; 423-282-2631.
