Chase is preceded in death by his niece, Allison Michelle Sifford; his uncles, Dave Daye and Andrew Bennett; his aunts, Teresa Shepard and Susan Miller; his maternal grandparents, Irene and Billy Joe Lambert; and paternal grandparents, Bobby Sifford, Earl and Jessie Bennett.
He is survived by his loving parents, Roy and Angie Sifford; his brother, Allen Sifford (Heatherly); his sister, Angela “Sissy” Sifford (Ricky Ortiz); and his special nephew, Nicholas Allen Sifford. Chase also leaves behind many cousins, friends, and loved ones who will deeply miss him.
Chase earned his bachelor’s degree from East Tennessee State University, where he was a proud member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was known for his contagious laugh, his magnetic smile, and a personality that lit up every room.
He had a lifelong passion for cars, music, reading, movies, building Legos, and enjoying any water sport. A sports enthusiast, Chase played football for the Elizabethton Cyclones, and he especially loved cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Chase was his mother’s gift from God—Angie overcame so much to bring him into this world. He was a man of Christian faith who loved the Lord and lived with a joyful, generous spirit.
Chase’s memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
A visitation for Matthew will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Monte Vista Funeral Home, 1900 E. Oakland Ave, Johnson City, TN 37601. A celebration of life will follow at 1:00 PM. A committal service & interment will follow at 2:00 PM in the Garden of Sermon on the Mount, at Monte Vista Memorial Park.
