Wayne Lance Hughes, age 75, of Johnson City, TN, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Ballad Health. He was born on November 10, 1950, the son of the late Wayne Edward and Mattie Aileen Shull Hughes. He graduated from Boones Creek High School and dedicated his career to being a natural gas and environmental services technician. In his younger years, he found joy in fishing. Wayne's enduring passion for travel was evident in his affection for Myrtle Beach, a destination he visited many times.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son Christopher Hughes and wife Lisa; grandchild Morgan Hughes; sister Joann Ramsey and husband Kenneth “Randy” Ramsey; nephew Nicholas Ramsey; niece Samantha Kennedye; and special friend Melody Grindstaff.
A memorial service to celebrate Wayne’s life will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 3:30 pm in the Chapel at Monte Vista Funeral Home with Richard Taylor officiating. Inurnment will be with the family.
In lieu of flowers donations are requested to be made to March of Dimes or a charity of your choice.
