

Charlie Weeks better known as “Duck”, 85, of Johnstown, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 31, 1939 in Columbus, Ohio, a son to the late Charles and Leona (Painter) Weeks. Charlie and his wife, Sue, have been married since April 30, 1966. He graduated from Johnstown-Monroe High School in 1957. On August 8, 1958 he enrolled in Andrew Columbus Barber College and graduated March 26, 1959. Charlie started barbering at Sine’s Barber Shop, in Johnstown, where he worked for three years. In June of 1962 he and the late Tom Walker, started their own shop under the name “W & W Barber Shop”, until December 1970. Charlie then moved his shop to where he was located at 60 South Main St. He had been barbering for 62 years in Johnstown prior to his retirement in 2022 and had cut hair longer than any of his predecessors. Charlie Weeks is a firm believer in supporting our troops and honoring our flag. He served in the Ohio National Guard from 1957-1964. Weeks’ was elected to village council in 1986 and served one full four year term and part of another term. In his earlier years he was a Jaycee Member, Little League sponsor and coach, volunteered several years for the Johnstown Athletic Booster, and was a volunteer at Searfoss Elementary to help students with math. He is a supporter of the “Big Red Band” and will always be a “Johnnie Fan”. Charlie sponsored his granddaughter’s JYAA softball team “Weeks Barber Shop”. For fun he liked being a grandpa, playing euchre, always tried to be of service, and enjoyed playing the guitar and the mandolin. While Johnstown has seen many changes over the past 62 years a constant had been Charlie Weeks’ was a barber and always a proud supporter of our community. In addition to his loving wife, Sue, he is also survived by his children, Jason Charles Weeks and Kaylee Sue; grandchildren, Marley Kay Weeks and Sawyer Charles Weeks and several nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws. Charlie is preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Bailey. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025 at The Presbyterian Church of Johnstown, 81 S. Main St., Johnstown, OH 43031. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the church with Pastor Kevin Heckathorn officiating. Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery.
