Gregory Robert Bammerlin, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away surrounded by his family on January 21, 2024, after many adventures and a long and brave fight with cancer. Greg was born in Mansfield, Ohio on April 13, 1956, and was a graduate of Madison Senior High School and Wittenberg University. He spent 10 years as a roughneck in the oil fields of Wyoming before coming to Columbus for a career in medical diagnostics, where he just retired from Roche after 30 years.
Greg loved being a father and was devoted to his family. He loved to golf with his boys and enjoyed many road trips with his family to Idaho and many National Parks. He was a longtime Cleveland Indians & Guardians fan, a big Parrot Head and enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and birding.
He is survived by his wife Jayma, sons Rexford and Bryson, mother Dixie; sister Lori Collins (John), brother Chris, nieces Kayla Bammerlin and Melanie Callahan, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, John, and brother, Brad.
Greg was well-loved by a plethora of friends and cohorts in crime. From the flower shop in Mansfield to the oil fields of Wyoming. From the roof of the Delta Sig house at Wittenberg to the beaches of Florida and the Silver Dollar Cowboy Bar in Jackson Hole. From the soccer fields at Northridge, to having beverages at Hawk’s Nest or sitting under the stars with family and friends. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
The family would like to offer our deepest appreciation to our friends, Hospice/caregivers, and the Sarcoma team at The James for all of the support during this journey.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Irongate Equestrian Center, 12298 Croton Rd., Hartford, OH 43013 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with a memorial service at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be given to Steps for Sarcoma Fund, Code - #314006, OSU Foundation, P.O. Box 710811, Columbus, OH 43271-0811 or National Parks Foundation, 1500 K Street NW, Suite 700, Washington, DC 20005 in Greg’s memory.
