My first meeting with Jim Houck ,came on a cold January day, I was a first year Ag teacher at Northridge High School. Ford motor Company had given the FFA a Ford 3000 tractor. It didn't realize the tractor came without wheels and tires. it arrived on a Semi truck, The driver wanted to know how we were going to unload it. I was stumped until Jim's son, Bub said my Dad can do it with our pole truck. I told Bub to call his Dad. Within 20 minutes Jim showed up in a55 Chevy Pole Truck , with no doors. Jim was dressed in a white T shirt , no Jacket. It took Jim about 20 minutes to off load the tractor and put it in our shop, I asked Jim how much the school owed for his service. Jim's response " Your teaching Bub that's pay enough" So began a life long friendship .

So sorry to hear of your dad passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I will never forget growing up hanging around “Houck’s Garage “ and all of the education that I gained just by watching and listening to Jim and everyone else who would happen to be there. I have a lot of fond memories of Jim and I never had to worry where he stood on things, I admired his directness. He will be greatly missed!!!!

To Jim’s Family,
Jim was more than a client, he was a great guy. He was understanding when I lost my husband. Because he had lost Emily the year before.
I knew him for over 30 yrs. I know he is in heaven giving my husband an ear full.
Loved Jim. I will never forget him telling me to put a dead body in the back seat not the trunk because they open the trunk before they crush the car . Lol
I will work with your family thru the hard times and try to be as bossy as your Dad and Grandpa was.

To Jim’s family, We were neighbors for many years. I don’t recall there being a time when Jim wasn’t willing to lend an ear, speak up to say what he really thought or possibly give some advice 😃 Always there to give a hand if one was needed. Always fair, honest and true to his word. Always my friend! My deepest condolences to Bubb, Deb and your families. May you find peace in knowing your dad was a good man !!
