

James “Jim” Thomas VanSchoyck, 77, of Johnstown, Ohio, the self-proclaimed “Biggest OSU Buckeye Fan”, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on October 23, 1947, in Columbus, Ohio to the late John and Ethel VanSchoyck. Jim was a graduate of Thomas Worthington High School. He was an honorable disabled veteran, who served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War as a sergeant in 3rd Marine Division. Jim was a proud member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and carried letters for 34 years. He was a founding member of Ohio Nature Education, which would not exist today without out his generous financial support and being the programs number one cheerleader. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Manon VanSchoyck; children, Fallon (Kevin) Hodge, Tara Hutson, Vickie Waller, and Tom VanSchoyck; sisters, DebraJo (Fred) Gerber and Sharon Garner; and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones. In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in passing by his twin brother, Mike VanSchoyck; sister, Nancy Deinzer; and beloved dog, Penny. Family and friends may call from 2:00-5:00pm Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Crouse-Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 225 N. Main St., Johnstown, OH 43031. A private family burial will be held at Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jim’s name to Ohio Nature Education, 4782 Riley Rd.
