

Lewis Atlee Main, Jr, born January 6th, 1945 to the late Lewis and Mary (Patingale) of Alexandria, passed away on January 15th, 2026. He is survived by his wife of nearly 57 years, Alice (Warthen), daughters Melanie and Marianne (Jeremy) Derenberger, grandsons Grant Michael, Lincoln, and Benjamin Derenberger, nephews Kevin (Sandra) and Mark Rhodeback, and nieces Michelle Spiert and Kelly Mertins.
Lewie began working for Western Electric in 1965. He retired on a Friday in March, 1997, then began a second career as an auditor for the Department of Development the following Monday. He retired from the State of Ohio in 2007. His third career was as a Registered Pharmacy Tech. He dedicated his life to the service of his community. He was a member of the Johnstown Rural Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years, Mayor of Johnstown for 5 ½ years, and spent a combined 21 years on Council and Planning and Zoning Commission. He was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church of Johnstown, where he was treasurer for many years.
Lewie could build or fix just about anything. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, cutting wood, and Ohio State football. His favorite joy was being “Papa” to his grandsons and sharing in activities with them.
He was a force in life and will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Presbyterian Church of Johnstown. Calling hours will be Wednesday, January 21st from 5:00-8:00 pm, and the Celebration of Life service will be Thursday, January 22nd at 10:00 at his church.
