RB Ray Persinger, age 79, of Johnstown, died peacefully on Friday, June 27, 2014 at Licking Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit. Retired from Big Bear after 43 years of service. Member of the Seafarers Union. A generous volunteer, Ray had delivered Meals on Wheels and was known for helping countless strangers during storms over the years. An avid outdoorsman, Ray enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and skiing among other activities. Preceded in death by daughter Tanya Lynnette Persinger, parents RB Argorbite and Elizabeth L. Persinger, brothers Dave and Garry Persinger, great-grandchildren Mycah Makenzie Persinger Cannon Joseph Colliflower and Gabriel Mathew Williams. Survived by loving wife of 57 years, Margaret E. (Mathews) Persinger; sons, Terry (Georganne) Persinger of Centerburg, Jerry Persinger of Johnstown; sisters, Marie Morgan, Ruth Nutter, Lillian, Julia Marteny, Peggy Smith, Iris Donna Copeland; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2014 at CROUSE-KAUBER-SAMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 225 N. Main Street, Johnstown, where Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
