Carol’s life began in New York, but it was in Jasper, Alabama, that she grew into the strong, spirited, and deeply compassionate woman so many came to love. From an early age, she embraced the outdoors and the simple joys of life — fishing on quiet waters, playing softball with friends, and spending evenings at the bowling alley. She carried a grit and determination that became one of her defining traits, even putting herself through nursing school in her own bold way, running moonshine to pay her tuition. (Allegedly) It was a story she told with pride and humor, a testament to her resilience and independence.
Carol dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She worked as a nurse and later in a doctor’s office, offering comfort, skill, and steady hands to those who needed her. She eventually found her place in public service as a Sheriff’s service clerk with the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, where she served with reliability and heart until her retirement in 2020.
She loved her New Orleans Saints, cheered passionately during NASCAR races, and found joy in the energy and excitement of the sports she followed. But perhaps nothing revealed her gentle spirit more clearly than the way she cared for animals. Any stray that wandered into her yard — cats, possums, raccoons, or anything else brave enough to approach — found food, safety, and kindness. Carol never turned away a creature in need. Her compassion was instinctive, boundless, and sincere.
Those who knew her will remember her as someone with a tough exterior and a tender heart, a woman who lived life on her own terms and loved without hesitation. Her legacy is one of strength, humor, generosity, and quiet goodness — the kind that leaves a lasting imprint on everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
A Memorial Service will be held at Horis Tara Garden Chapel, 681 North Ave, Jonesboro, GA 30236, US, on May 15, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
