

She grew up in the Church of God in Christ where she found Christ at an early age.
After graduating from Risley High School in 1970 she attended Coastal College of Georgia. Formally known as Brunswick Jr College and received an Associated Degree in Secretary Science. All while working for Hercules Industrial Plant After completing school. In her early years, she was known for her love of bowling, sewing, cooking, music, and dance. She was a hard-working woman selling Avon for several years. In 1978 she joined the National Guard Air Force She was deployed in 2001 to 2003 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in response to the September 11 attacks also known as the global war on terrorism. She retired Air Force Reserve in 2011 as a Technical Sergeant.
Carolyn attended Brunswick Job Corp where she started working for the State which she later transferred in 1984 to work for the Department of Transportation as a Senior Secretary. She then met the love of her life her husband Manuel ‘Gene’ Perry who preceded her in death. She stayed close with her good friend Roslyn Price after her years of retirement who she shared so many stories about life experiences.
Carolyn loved life she was very smart she learned a lot through researching. She wore her badge of honor as a creative lefty proudly in everything she did that showed well in her writing and craft projects. She was self-taught with tools and building things as she loved to keep busy with her hands. She excelled in anything she put her marvelous hands to such as home or furniture restoration or home repair as she would always say “I think I can do that on my own if I take my hand to it!”
She Has two special nephews Tyrone James and Andre James who assisted her with several projects around her enchanting home she started years before with her husband whom she shared so many common interests. She looked forward and enjoyed letters by Gina Davies her daughter in union sent along with beautiful bouquets of flowers she admired for weeks (she loved flowers). She was always so amazed at how Gina never skipped or forgot a holiday or birthday.
She preceded one daughter in death, Aurie Mae Spearing. She was the second of the youngest of seven children three brothers preceded in death by Robert Thomas, Johnnie Miller, and Albert Miller. One sister preceded in death, Beatrice James. Two sisters survive her, the oldest of all Charla Woods, and the youngest of all siblings Deborah Spearing. She was a loving sister with a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Carolyn is survived by one granddaughter Samia Spearing whom she raised as her own and two great-grandchildren Evan Norton and Aubrie Spearing.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who led a full life as a strong independent woman with charm and grace.
The sunset on her life when the Lord called her home after 70 years on the evening of April 9, 2022.
A visitation for Carolyn will be held Friday, April 22, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Tara Garden Chapel, 681 North Ave, Jonesboro, Georgia 30236. A graveside service will occur Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Sherwood Memorial Park and Mausoleum, 6841 Tara Blvd, Jonesboro, Georgia 30236.
