My Grandfather was a light in the life of all who met him. I miss him so much, but I know I will see him again. He was what a good christian man should be in every way.

My Sweet Dot...
As I read the kind words from others, I remember Daddy's smile, kindness, sincerity and the wonderful person that makes me proud to be his son.  Others have expressed many times over that Daddy was a "gentle gentleman" and touched their lives in wonderful ways. Daddy was a true southern gentleman. 
Daddy loved you so much and in return you brought him the happiness in life that he always deserved. We will remember him always as a devoted husband to you and a wonderful father to Richard, David, Tim and me.

Daddy was the gentlest and kindest man I have ever met.  He will be greatly missed by everyone, but especially Michael and I.  We will miss the trips to the Varsity where Daddy enjoyed his chili hot dogs and onion rings, and telling his stories.  Heaven is now a better place with him being there.  We love you Daddy and we will be sure that Ms. Dot is taken care of, and gets to continue visiting the Varsity.  I was so glad that we got to celebrate his 96th birthday with him, his granddaughter Kim and his great granddaughter Chloe Michelle.  We have a hole in our hearts that will heal over time, but our love and memories of Daddy will never end.

Daddy was the sweetest and kindest man I have ever met.  He was proud to know that his son Michael has followed in his footsteps. Daddy loved going to the Varsity for chili dogs and enjoyed visiting with his granddaughter Kim and his great grandchildren Jacob, Sean and Kim. Dear Dot,

How fortunate that you found and married such a gentle, caring life partner. Thanks for finding him and having the good sense to hold on to him.  He was a source of strength and stability for David, I know, and for the whole family.  Eddie was one of the gentlest, kindest men I have ever known.  He showed his love for me and others quietly and constantly in the way he cared for us, cooked for us, and listened to us.  And, his creamed potatoes were about the best way I've had potatoes, ever!

I know you must miss him terribly; after so many years, how could you not?  I will always cherish the way he would, when they were little, get down on the floor and tussle with his grandsons, carry them around, really BE with them.  

I hope you will find comfort in remembering the fun things and the everyday things you shared with Eddie.

George's Uncle Ed--a man brought to my awareness by George Upchurch of Danville CA!  Reminds of the energizer bunny, active until disease dictated no longer.  Followed Uncle Ed on his recent journey to California.  Inspirational! What a gathering of brothers as Uncle Ed entered the pearly gates, a genuine family reunion.
