Emily Ruth Worthen

Emily Ruth was the devoted mother of two children, Iris Worthen (son) and Robin Worthen (daughter) and the loving Special Grand “Mama” to Ashley Hill. Emily Ruth was also the wife of the late Sam Worthen.

She was the daughter of two loving parents, the late William Mitchell, Sr. and Henrietta Mitchell. She was the faithful sister to five siblings including her two sisters, the late Mary Lee Ivey (G.W. Ivey, late Brother-In-Law), and Sallie M. Carpenter (Joseph F. Carpenter, Brother-in-Law) as well as her three brothers, Elmer Mitchell (Christine Mitchell, late Sister-In-Law), Theolodus Mitchell (Vernell Mitchell, Sister-In-Law), and William Mitchell, Jr. (Bernice Mitchell, Sister-In-Law). She was affectionately known as “Auntie” and “Aunt Ruth” to a host of nieces and nephews. Emily Ruth also leaves behind close cousins and relatives to include her “special cousin-friend” Mary Hill and all of the Hill family. She leaves to cherish her memory a host of family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Emily Ruth retired as a faithful employee from which she provided over 42 years of dedicated service to the V.A. Hospital in Atlanta, GA.

She was also a faithful worshipper of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Greater Moses Chapel on Boulevard in Atlanta, GA.

It is with heavy hearts, but bountiful gratitude that our mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend Emily Ruth Worthen has gone to be with our God. Although we will miss her greatly, we are overjoyed that she is eternally healed and look forward to the day when we will meet her again.
