

Nellie Beatrice Roberts gracefully transitioned to be with The Lord on Sunday, May 28th, 2023. Born on January 4th, 1923, Nellie was the cherished daughter of the late John B. Solomon and the late Clifford M. Solomon. She spent her formative years on Rockwell Street, where she developed a strong foundation and lifelong values.
After completing her education, Nellie embarked on a fulfilling career at Emory University, where she dedicated herself to overseeing housing administration. Her unwavering commitment and exceptional work ethic earned her the admiration and respect of her colleagues. Nellie was blessed to enjoy a long and fruitful career at Emory University, retiring after 35 years of dedicated service.
In 1971, Nellie found true love and marital bliss with her late husband, James E. (Bob) Roberts. Their beautiful wedding took place in their newly acquired marital residence at 1729 Westhaven Drive. Throughout their marriage, Nellie and Bob shared countless cherished moments together, including the celebration of their 40th wedding anniversary. Their home became a sanctuary where they provided love, guidance, and support to several minor relatives whom they lovingly raised as their own.
Nellie's faith in The Lord was a guiding force in her life, and she openly shared her love and belief with everyone around her. As a devoted member of the Zion Hill Baptist congregation for over 75 years, she actively participated in church activities and served as a member of the Deaconess board, Timothy Byrd Usher board, Noon-Day Bible Study, and a charter member of Fountain of Life. Nellie found immense joy in serving others and had a profound impact on the lives of those she encountered.
In her retirement years, Nellie cultivated her green thumb and spent peaceful hours tending to her garden, growing beautiful flowers and bountiful vegetables. She also had a passion for fashion, delighting in shopping for timeless pieces and adorning herself with elegant church hats. Nellie's warm and friendly nature, coupled with her infectious laughter, made her a beloved presence in the lives of those who knew her.
Nellie is survived by her loving daughter, Terri Roberts, and her devoted grandson, Christopher K. E. Roberts. She also leaves behind her nephew, Michael Young, grand-niece, Adrienne, her grand-nephew, Michael Young Jr., and god-daughter, Cecelia Jones. Her passing is mourned by a host of relatives, friends, and church family members, all of whom were touched by her kind spirit and loving nature.
Nellie Beatrice Roberts will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her commitment to service, and her genuine love for others. Her legacy will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to have known her. As she rejoins The Lord, may she find eternal peace and rest in His loving embrace.
