(Ma Pope)
June 16, 1920 - February 2, 2011
Ruby C. Pope, one of the Lord’s precious jewels, was born on June 16, 1920,
in Port of Spain, Trinidad, West Indies, to the late Augustus Emanuel
Andrews and Clepatria Hinds Andrews. On February 2, 2011, Ruby passed away
suddenly while visiting her native land.
After graduating from Tranquility High School in 1938, Ruby married the
late Dolton C. Pope. There were six children raised from this union. In
1968, she migrated to New York to be with her daughter. In 1988, the two
relocated to the Atlanta area, where they remained until the heavenly
trumpet was blown as God called Ruby home.
As a professional seamstress, Ruby rendered services to a wide range of
people. She had the gift of making others around her laugh. Her favorite
pass times were pokeno, crossword puzzles, preparing meals for her family,
and dancing. Ruby was an active and dedicated member of the Charles Griswell
Senior Citizen Center.
Ruby was a loving and caring woman highly spoken of by others as a jovial
independent person. She treasured every moment of life and considered it to
be a true treasure granted from above. Ruby ran her race, stayed the
course, and received her reward at the finish line. As she entered through
the heavenly gates into the arms of her Savior, he greeted her with smile
and whispered, “Ruby, well done my faithful servant! Well done!”
Ruby leaves behind precious memories to be cherished by her four sons:
Mervyn (Sylvia), Davidson, Christopher (Cheryl) and Douglas (Marcia); two
daughters: Glenda and Patricia; Grandchildren: Beverly, Allison, Ronald,
Theresa, Abendigo, Patrick, Kwabena, Dwayne, Brandon, Sharifa, Frances, and
the late Nathaniel; Great Grandchildren: Brian, Andrae, Joseph, Kyaria,
Capone, Jaleel, Tzahmyra, Sakari, Sakai, Asean, Triston and Antonia;
Sisters: Carmen, Mable, Joycelyn, Ovita, Gloria, Rhonda, Sandra, and
Michelle; n/ Brothers: Randolph, Harold, Vernon, George, Stephen, Darwin
and Eddie. She also leaves a host of other family members and friends.
Arrangements under the direction of Tara Garden Chapel, Jonesboro, GA.
