It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alejandro (Alex) Gutierrez. Alex was called to heaven on Friday, August 6, 2021, after a two year battle with brain cancer. He was 47 years old.
Alex is survived by his bride (of nearly 17 years) and best friend, Rachel; his children, Niko and Benjamin; parents, Alejandro and Kenia Gutierrez; sister, Lissette (Sergio) and nieces, Sofia and Isabella Valdes. He leaves behind aunts and cousins including, Mayra and Otto (Chrissy) Moreno. He will be missed by family in Cuba including his grandmother, “Mima” Consuelo Romero; aunt, Maribel Moreno (Gregorio), and cousins, Mylen (Ciri) and Nestor. Alex's love for family was undeniable. He will be missed dearly by not only his immediate family, but also by the Bunge family he married - Darrel, Marsha, Max (Kai Yin) and Adam (Sarah, Grace, Luther).
He is predeceased by his grandmother, Gloria Gutierrez; grandfathers, Manolo Moreno and Lorenzo Gutierrez; uncles, Omar Moreno and Otto Moreno, and cousin, Danny DeJesus.
Alex was born in Camaguey, Cuba, and raised in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He attended Palm Beach Gardens High School and Palm Beach State College before entering into his law enforcement career with the City of West Palm Beach. He moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, in 2006 when he was hired by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources where he worked as a Captain in the law enforcement division.
The world is a better place having had Alex in it for almost 48 years. His legacy lives on in his two beautiful and strong sons. Niko and Benjamin carry not only his name, but also his beautiful light, brave soul and big heart.
