Mrs. Hawkins was born in Shelby, Ohio on March 27, 1924 to the late John Payne and Amy Pettit Payne. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband; Howard W. Hawkins whom she married on June 22, 1953. She was a graduate of Shelby High School. Mrs. Hawkins had worked as a cashier at State Theatre from 1941 until 1942 and Ohio Seamless Tube Co. 1942-1951.
Survivors include her sons; Warren J. (Elizabeth) Powell, Powell, Ohio, Brent (Janet) Hawkins, Lexington, South Carolina, daughter; Lisa (Gary) Atkinson, Chapin, South Carolina, four grandsons; Christopher Hawkins, Tom and Yates Atkinsons also Anthony John “A.J.” Hawkins, one granddaughter; Katherine Atkinson, two step grandchildren; Amanda Atkinson and Jenifer Davis, two great grandchildren Paxton and Kall, step grandchildren; Anna and Jack Davis, Gregory and Austin Sweatt .
