Carol Friedman Dardick, a devoted educator, cherished mother, and beloved grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025, in Jupiter, Florida, at the age of 89. Born on January 7, 1936, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Maurice (Bud) and Hortense Friedman, Carol’s life was a testament to compassion, intellect, and unwavering love.
Carol’s academic journey led her from Mary Institute to the University of Michigan, culminating in a Phi Beta Kappa graduation from Washington University in St. Louis. She later earned a Master’s degree from the University of Miami, dedicating her career to teaching children with learning disabilities—a role she embraced with patience and deep empathy.
Together with her beloved husband, Eugene (Gene) Dardick, Carol built a life rich in adventure and shared passions. Their journey took them through cities like St. Louis, Houston, Chattanooga, Atlanta, Miami, Hendersonville, and Palm Beach Gardens. They found joy in travel, the camaraderie of golf, and the strategic challenge of contract bridge, where Carol achieved the rank of Grand Life Master.
Carol’s heart was most full when surrounded by family. She is lovingly remembered by her brother, Richard, son-in-law, Larry, her grandchildren, Will, Ben, Nick, and Katy, and great grandson Dominic. She now reunites with her dear husband, Gene, and their cherished daughters, Lisa and Julie, who predeceased her.
A lifelong Democrat, Carol’s values were reflected in her commitment to education and social justice. She first got involved by volunteering for John Kennedy’s presidential campaign. Her legacy is one of kindness, resilience, and an enduring love that touched all who knew her.
May her memory be a blessing, and may her spirit continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
