

Chao Chen Wang passed away on May 20, 2017. He was born on February 11, 1929 in Xiaoshan city of Zhejiang province, China.
He obtained a graduate degree in Heilongjian University (former Haerbin Foreign Language Institute) in 1952. He became a tenured professor there until 1972. After moving to Beijing in later 1972, he was a professor, department head, and then Vice President at Beijing Second Foreign Language University.
He engaged in foreign language teaching and linguistic research. He wrote many linguistic books on Russian Language, and led a team to translate a Russian Encyclopedia Dictionary.
He was a dedicated educator, and had students all over the world. When joined his wife in North Carolina after his retirement, he taught and was the President of Chapel Hill Chinese School to help children born and live in US to learn and understand Chinese culture and language.
He is survived by his three daughters, Siyan, Siping and Siming, three grandsons and two granddaughters. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 24, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center.
