

Denise Herweyer (Luukkonen) passed away peacefully at her condo in Juno Beach, Florida on December 19, 2025. She was born in Ontonagon, Michigan on March 19, 1959 to the late Jack Luukkonen Sr. and Nancy Luukkonen (Savala).
After several family moves, the family landed in Grand Ledge, Michigan, where Denise graduated from Grand Ledge High School in 1977. She began working for Cameron Tool and Die as their Controller. At the same time she enrolled in evening accounting classes and received her Bachelor's degree in Accounting. After meeting Jeff Herweyer and marrying, they moved to Mcbain, Michigan to start their horse farm. She then began working for Utility Supply and Construction company in Reed City, Michigan as their Controller.
Denise recently moved to Florida in retirement and began boarding her horses at Jupiter farm stables. Her true passion in life was her horses, both riding and loving them. She enjoyed a new colt being born this spring, Tully. Tully was the apple of her eye at this point and Highland and Mya became the second objects of her affection.
Denise also loved to cook, her family and friends were treated to many gourmet meals. The crew at Jupiter farms were also treated every Friday to a luncheon she served to them. Her daily visits to Jupiter farm to spend time with her three horses was the highlight of each day.
Denise loved socializing with family and friends who will miss her dearly. Surviving are her brother, Jack Luukkonen Jr.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother, David Luukkonen and her sister, Valerie Luukkonen.
A Celebration of life for Denise, will be held at a later time.
