Dennis Quinn was something of a hero to me.   I had been hired as a regional service manager for Data Access Systems, giving up a secure position at the University of Delaware.   The President of DASI had found another, more experience person and the company was going to demote me four months after my arrival to make room for him. 

I was now rethinking my future.   As the regional sales manager, and actually quite unknown to me personally, Dennis purposely ask to see me when I was in the service office just across from New York City, he spoke with me regarding the downward position change.   He spoke with gentle and meaningful words, stating I was better suited technically for the new position.   I was quite taken aback by his short but “to the point” talk with me. It was all quite out of the blue. 

I know almost all people would view this interaction as some kind of “sicky sweet” aside during a busy day for him.   But honestly, those to whom have had the distinct privilege of knowing this man perceive an entirely different person. Hard, very tough and incredibly successful. Yet at the same time fair, compassionate and funny.   I took his sage advice add stayed with him and DASI for the next 15 years. During that time the American exchange company slowly morphed and finally died as Authorized Distribution Network.  I finally took what was left of its proprietary technology and move to Texas, leaving behind the giants in my young life such as Howard Crystal, Marty Ackerman and a countless bunch of men and women who affected my life in Blackwood, New Jersey. 

Thanks, Dennis, for the time you spent with me that day. And all of the years after.  Prayers ascend.

This man was my hero. All of us have one or two, maybe three in our lifetimes.   Dennis was mine. One of two. 

May a generous a forgiving God bless this soul.   But, if I know Dennis,  I will be the last person in a very long line. 


My name is Bob Meason and I was at one time part of Data Access Systems, where Dennis was our Vice President of Sales .  For over 12 years I was proud to call him my friend. Most people who knew Dennis as an incredibly successful leader of our sales team. My memories of him are different than most. He was a fine individual and a patient, personal and, at once, a constant mentor that would push you to new heights. I was devastated to learn of his passing as it was also my loss. To me he was a complex man.  Data Access Systems was a complex place and now all members of that crazy fraternity are scattered to the winds. But all will remember this kind giant with great admiration and respect. He pushed me to higher places.  Thanks Dennis. 

To the Quinn Family, many of you may remember me from the West Nine and now that my family and myself have moved to Northern Florida, I did a search for Dennis and Andy to try and locate them to maybe play golf and came across this horrible news that I didn't know. I wish everyone in Dennis's Family my sincere condolences and hope everyone is coping OK with your loss. Andy, you and your dad were very strong influences in my life that I could never thank you both enough for. Andy, I truly hope you get this and we catch up sometime. I would love to see you sometime. I was honored to have met Dennis in 2003 while visiting WPB. He left a lasting impression on me & I know Heaven got an angel when he arrived!  Kind & funny...dry wit. Wishing his family and friends fond memories to keep alive forever.  Love without end

I played golf with Dennis and his son at West Nine. He was a true gentleman who enriched everyone's life who was lucky enough to know him.

Dennis was the greatest gentleman. He was warm, caring and genuinely interested in what was going on in your life. I always enjoyed his gentle hugs and wonderful smile. He was to me a "real cutie" and I will miss seeing him on the range, at the Marina Cafe or in Palm Beach at one of his favorite haunts Cafe L'Europe or the Colony Hotel. Sadly, the world will not be the same without him.

To those who loved him best, I wish you peace.  My hope for you is that you will share the memories of Dennis Quinn that made you laugh and feel loved, safe, important, and close.  I hope those memories will sustain you in the days ahead.  The influence of this man will continue to live on through the lives of his family. 
  Thank you for the opportunity, and the valuable education not only in technology, but in communication, customer service, and the chance to witness dedication to a shared vision.  Thank you for the lessons your children passed on, one of which, for me, was: Never give up, it's never too late to adjust your sails.
While this loss is huge, his message of the importance of family, will live on in every action of his children and grandchildren.  I thank you for the bold actions you and your family took which allowed me the chance to flourish in my professional goals.

I first met Dennis Quinn 4  years ago when I was retained to provide legal counsel.  During our professional relationship, we became friends.   Since Dennis had such a positive impact on my life, I would like to share my thoughts with his family and friends:    

First and foremost, Dennis loved and respected his family (I saw this first hand in June 2014 when Dennis, Bruce, Andrew and Sheri were all together as one).  Dennis was also a man's man.  No doubt about it.  

At the same time, however, Dennis had grace.  He always had a kind word and took the time to say something nice  it mattered not whether you were waiting on his table at the Club or the President of a Fortune 500 company.   As for the flip side of that coin, Dennis had a low tolerance for nonsense.  If you were nice, no worries.  If not, you would hear about it and then some.   

As for another wonderful trait that Dennis had, he was honest.  As a trial lawyer for the last 31 years, this is something we can never take for granted.  Win, lose or draw, Dennis gave it to you straight.  

Finally, in life, we run into many people.  Few leave a lasting impression like Dennis Quinn.  He reaffirmed that there is goodness in this world, and his kindness, grace and love for his family and friends will never be forgotten.
