Diane Miriam Ackerson, lovingly known as “DeeDee” to her closest family, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on November 23, 1949, in Queens, New York, Diane was a remarkable woman whose calm spirit, generosity, brilliance, and devotion to her family will be remembered forever.
Diane graduated from Freeport High School before earning her business degree from Palm Beach State College. She married the love of her life, Edward Ackerson, and together they shared 55 years of marriage built on love, laughter, loyalty, and unwavering devotion.
A lifelong learner, Diane pursued knowledge with great passion. She taught herself Italian and continued to refine her language skills throughout her life, always eager to expand her horizons. Sharp-minded and endlessly curious, she found joy in the thrill of discovery—whether uncovering treasures at garage sales and thrift shops, playing piano, or writing songs. Her creativity shone through in her quilting, crocheting, and cooking, where she poured love, energy, and artistry into everything she made. She was also a quick-witted competitor at her favorite card game, Canasta.
Diane’s entrepreneurial spirit was just as strong. After retiring from a successful career in banking, she built a thriving eBay business—one that became a source of pride and even paid for a new car.
Above all, Diane cherished her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Edward Ackerson; her devoted daughters, Jennifer Hasozbek-Garcia and Christine Willis; her loving sons-in-law, Ronnie Hasozbek-Garcia and Chad Willis; and her precious grandchildren, Lilly Hasozbek-Garcia, Sienna Hasozbek-Garcia, and Connor Willis. She is also survived by her five loving siblings—Denise Vecchio, Daryl LaCorte, David Drohan, Donna Dougherty, and Dorine Drohan—along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Alma Drohan.
Diane’s legacy is one of love, resilience, creativity, and a life well-lived. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
