Donald Bragdon, 82, a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away on July 5, 2024. He was a resident of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida for the last twenty-four years.
Donald was born to Esther and Donald Bragdon on November 11, 1941 in Lewiston, Maine. "Donnie" graduated from Edward Little High School in 1960 in Auburn, Maine. He enjoyed playing football and basketball, spending time with friends, and going on adventurous dates with his future bride. His yearbook described him as "a man among men with dark curly hair and was no square."
Donald married his high school sweetheart, Marie Grondin, in 1961. All their friends referred to them as Donnie and Marie. Always inseparable, you never heard one of their names spoken without the other. They were married for 62 wonderful years and together raised three children, Tawny, Shawn, and Jennifer.
After graduation Donald worked multiple jobs to support his family including working at a local paper mill, teaching drivers’ education, driving trucks, and working as a photographer. He always aspired to owning his own business and found his way to building pools. In fact, the first swimming pool he ever built was for his beloved family. Donald and Marie proudly owned and operated Shawn Pools Inc. for thirty-five years. Another one of his memorable achievements was his induction into the Masons and Shriners at the invitation of his father. Donald never had the opportunity to attend college. Wanting more for his children, he placed the upmost importance on education. One of his proudest moments was watching his children achieve this goal.
His legacy is carried on by his grandchildren Tiffany, Jacob, Katie, Laurel, and Connor. Each of them has fond memories of their “Papa”, and will remember him as being loving, selfless, and always up for some fun.
Sadly, Donald was predeceased by his parents, Ester and Donald Bragdon; wife, Marie Bragdon; son, Shawn Bragdon and granddaughter, Brooke Grenier. His memory will be forever held in the hearts of his surviving family, his daughters, Tawny Naugle (David Naugle) and Jennifer Capozzi (Dan Capozzi); his grandchildren, Tiffany Bocchino, Jacob Capozzi, Katie Capozzi, Laurel Bragdon, and Conner Bragdon; his great grandchildren, Cameron McGirt and Rocco Bocchino and his sisters, Patty, Judy, and Kathy.
Donald is now at peace resting beside his beloved wife. Donald Bragdon's story is one of determination, love, and family forever.
