

87, of Jupiter, Florida, beloved husband of Laura (Spinelli) Fox, departed this life on Monday, January 7, at West Palm Beach Hospital with his family by his side.
Ed was born in Meriden, CT, son of the late Edward F. and Alida (Chagnon) Fox. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the South Pacific during World War II. Following his military service, he settled in Meriden, CT and married Laura Spinelli. Until his retirement, Ed was a salesman with New Britain Candy & Tobacco and a deputy sheriff for New Haven County. He resided in Meriden, CT until 1985 when he and Laura retired to Jupiter, FL. Ed was very active in the Meriden community, serving in key leadership positions in the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Young Democrats Club, the Jaycees, and the Lions Club. Also in Meriden, he was a deputy registrar of voters, and served on the Board of Public Works and the Board of Apportionment and Taxation. Ed had a deep passion for politics, playing central roles in the election campaigns of various mayoral and U.S. Congressional candidates.
Ed will be deeply missed by his wife, Laura, of 65 years, and his three sons – Gary and his wife, Lil, of Florida; Ken and his wife, Karen, of Massachusetts; and Tim and his wife, Maureen, of North Carolina. He was cherished by his six grandchildren -Megan, Ryan, Tyler, Kevin, Logan and Siena. Ed was pre-deceased by his sister, Lois Callahan.
Relatives and friends may attend a memorial service on Saturday, January 19, 11:00AM, at Aycock Funeral Center (1112 Military Trail) in Jupiter. Interment will be private at the South Florida VA National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
