Edward Augustus Lane, III, 81, of Florida, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on February 2, 2026. He was born in Oakland, California, on January 25, 1945; the son of the late Capt. Edward
Lane, Jr. (USN) and Frances Lane.
A proud veteran, Ed served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee. Following his service, he moved to Richmond, Virginia,
where he founded Lane Homes & Remodeling in 1984. He worked hard to build a respected business that created a lasting legacy of craftsmanship.
Ed's life was anchored by his faith in Christ and his 59-year marriage to his high school sweetheart, Catherine. Married on
September 7, 1966, their enduring love story served as the foundation for the large, vibrant family they built together.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife, Catherine Lane; his three cherished children, Monica Gerber (Kevin), Edward Lane, IV
(Julie) and Sarah Bullard (Andy). He was a proud and loving grandfather to ten precious grandchildren, Macy, Felicity, Evan, Twila Ruth, Ethan, Celia, Caden, Grant, Lainey, and Violet. He is also survived by his siblings, Deder (Sandy) Lane, Katherine Little, Stephen Lane (Sue) and Barbara Thompson.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother-in-law, Bruce Thompson.
A Funeral Service for Ed's life and faith will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Christ Fellowship Jupiter, 1200 W. Indiantown Road, Jupiter, FL 33458. Following the service, a committal ceremony will take place at Riverside Memorial Park, 19351 SE County Line Road, Tequesta, FL 33469.
