Edward E McCollum

McCollum, Edward E. Jr., 79 of Manchester-by-the-Sea and Tequesta, Florida formerly of Gloucester, MA passed away April 29, 2011 in Jupiter, Florida, surrounded by family and friends. Ed is survived by his wife, Sheila (Franklin) formerly of Westboro; his sister, Irene, and her husband, Robert Zager; his three sons, Edward III, David, and Leonard; and his two step daughters, Tennyson and her husband Thomas Smith, and Heidi, and her husband Nicholas Wolff. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Nicole, EJ, Michael, & Corey McCollum; Sadie & Alison Smith; and Ivan & Rosemary Wolff; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by sister, Alice Hunt, and his first wife, Marianne (Linquata).

Born in Brooklyn, NY to Edward and Agnes McCollum, Ed graduated from Gloucester High School and earned a B.A. from Boston University, and an M.B.A. from Suffolk University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Ed worked at Avco and Raytheon Corporations. He then went on to become an active member of the seafood community and co-founded Ocean Crest Seafoods, Gloucester, MA. He belonged to the Lion's Club, the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge and Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce. His passion for travel led him all over the world with family & friends including several trips to see his cousins in his mother's homeland of Ireland, a heritage of which he was proud. As a longtime member of the Bass Rocks and Riverbend Golf Clubs, Ed spent many happy days out on the course; and skied for years at Attitash Mountain in NH and even in the Eastern Canadian, Swiss & Italian Alps.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a memorial service of Ed's life to be held at the St. John's Episcopal Church, Beverly Farms on Wednesday May 11 at 11AM.
