
Ed graduated from Beverly Hills High School. He went on to attend the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication. Ed married Marlies Hessel Artzt in December 2001 and together they shared 21 years of marriage.
Ed spent his professional career at the Procter & Gamble Company, until ultimately serving as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer from 1990 to 1995. During his 42 year career he impacted every sector of P&G's business. Ed joined P&G in advertising in 1953. His first success was Comet, a fledgling household cleanser that became the market leader. He then worked on Zest, Charmin, Bounty and Folgers. He transformed P&G's advertising capability as the head of Copy Services.
Edwin had a passion for fishing, golf, the NY Yankees and loved to spend his Summers with his family in Jackson, WY. He had a keen interest in History and was always eager to learn and explore the world around him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marlies Hessel Artzt; loving father of Wendy Artzt, Karen Husky (Brady), William Artzt, Laura DaCruz and Elizabeth Schmid (Chris); devoted grandfather of Megan McNees, Stephanie Husky, Chris Husky and Alex DaCruz and cherished great grandfather of Kaden Artzt.
Memorial donations may be made in Edwin's name to The Greater Cincinnati Foundation.
