Savior. Elaine lived her childhood in Jupiter, Florida with her mother, Alice VanOpstall and her father, Morgan VanOpstall and her sister’s, Beth Ann (deceased), Jeannie (Ellis) and her brother, Morgan.
Elaine graduated from Jupiter High School in 1967, and attended Palm Beach Junior College.
She found her work nitch as a legal secretary. She worked for several years at the law firm of
Cohen, Wagner, Nugent et al where under the tutelage of Robert Johnson, Esq. she excelled a legal secretary with a special human relations skill to handle client relations. She was often called upon to be with or speak to clients who were particularly stressed and anxious about the outcome of their case. She was a calming presence in the stormy world of litigation. In 1992, Elaine began working for the newly formed law firm of Patrick J. Malone Esq., P.A., in Jupiter, Florida. She was instrumental in fostering the growth of this form. In addition to her skills as a legal secretary, she performed all of the booking keeping and billing tasks. As the firm expanded, she became the office manager and supervised all staff members.
Elaine moved to Conyers, GA in 2005, where she assisted and cared for her mother, Alice
VanOpstall, together with her sister Jean. Elaine returned to live in Florida in 2016 after the death of her mother. She then resumed her legal career with the law firm of Clarke & Platt, P.A. in West Palm Beach, FL. In this new position, she once again, became the legal secretary of Patrick J. Malone, her best friend and partner for the past quarter century.
Elaine had many diverse interests and talents. She excelled at knitting and many of her knitted
creations donated to family and friends survive her as a testament to her creative skills. She had a mastery of words that was fully displayed to her overwhelmed opponents in various word games that she played.
Elaine was a conscientious homemaker, chef, help mate, mother, caretaker and animal lover. Her
dogs, Siena and Paris adored her and miss her dearly. Elaine’s open, friendly disposition, kindness and thoughtfulness was apparent to all who knew her. She loved her family unconditionally. Her home was always open for anyone that just wanted to stop by. Her infectious smile and warm heart welcomed everyone. Her cooking skills were like none other. Sharing pictures from cell phone to cell phone would leave you starving.
She is survived by her daughter, Brooke Mishoe (Gene Land); former husband, Johnnie Adkins;
grandsons, Sebastian Mishoe (Katrina) & Elijah Mishoe; granddaughter, Kaley Adkins, great-granddaughters, Allison Marie & Aubree Morgan; her sister, Jean Ellis (Jimi); brother, Morgan VanOpstall, Jr. (Patricia); nieces, Kristina LaGuardia (Joseph) and their children, Haleigh & Hayden, & Kimberly Gowen (Brian) and their children, Bryce & Clara; nephew, Morgan VanOpstall, III (Kate) & Meagan VanOpstall.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held to memorialize Elaine’s life, when it is safe to have
public gatherings.
