

Gerard M. Harrington, 85, of Tequesta, Florida formerly of Port Washington, New York passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 5, 2025. Born in Manhattan, New York; he is the son of Joseph and Julia (Maher) Harrington.
Gerard grew up with older sister, Mary; older brother, Joseph; twin brother, Kevin and younger brother, Kieran. He graduated from Power Memorial High School in Manhattan and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After serving his country Gerard went on to become an officer with the NYPD for 20 years.
He married his beloved wife, Gale (Gerrer) on September 17, 1966 and shared more than 58 years of devoted marriage. In 1993 they retired to Tequesta, Florida when they became longtime parishioners of St. Jude Catholic Church.
Gerard is survived by his wife, Gale; their two daughters, Melanie and Jennifer and husbands Luis and Todd. Gerard was the proud Papa to 5 grandchildren, Samantha, Joshua, Michael, Jacob, and Abigail.
Gerard will be remembered for his Catholic faith, loyalty to his country, and his unwavering devotion to his family. His motto was “do the right thing” and he lived by that creed. Gerard was greatly respected by everyone he met for his kindness and genuine sincerity in his words and actions. He enjoyed life to its fullest and we will remember all the precious moments and memories with Gerard Harrington.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Gerard will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Jude Catholic Church, 204 US-1, Tequesta, FL 33469. Burial will follow at South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 FL-7, Wellington, FL 33449. Memorial donations should be made to Vitas Hospice care.
