He graduated from McConnelsville High School in 1957 after lettering in football and receiving awards for Geometry and Physics. He went on to attend Marietta College and then The Ohio State University graduating in 1964 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He pursued a career in engineering at General Electric’s jet engine division, then at Pratt & Whitney/United Technology, Perry Submarines and Lockheed Martin.
He was an extremely generous person and held a passionate regard for all living things. He donated to many charities and even supported those who were less fortunate. He enjoyed sailing, was an avid runner competing in many marathons, was a fan of auto racing (especially F1) and never missed an Ohio State Football game. If you had the good fortune of watching The Buckeyes beat the “team from up north”, you would know how passionate and fanatical he was. That is the reason the word fanatic is often associated with Ohio State Football fans.
He is predeceased by his parents, Aubrey and Irene Ralph; a sister, Penny Sarayno and his ex-wife, Beverly Herriott-Ralph.
He is survived by his sister, Nancy Attanasio of Steamboat Springs, Colorado; brothers, Tim Ralph and his wife Hannelore of Tucson, Arizona and Jason Ralph of Sugar City, Idaho; sons, Charles Ralph and his wife Holly of La Center, Washington and Steve Ralph and wife Cindy of Jupiter, Florida, granddaughters, Lauren Moon and wife Chloe, Jennifer Ralph Donham and husband Joseph and Jessica Ralph Stein and husband Nicholas; great granddaughters, Twigleaf Moon, Beesong Moon, Jaida Ralph, Stella Donham, Camilla Donham and Sophia Donham.
Jon will be laid to rest in the Atlantic Ocean on Wednesday April 30, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on May 23, 2025 at 12:00pm at Paddy Macs in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
He was loved by all that knew him and will be missed dearly.
Rest in peace Jon and “Go Bucks”
